About this movie

Moonrise Kingdom is the new movie directed by two-time Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Wes Anderson (The Royal Tenenbaums, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Rushmore). Set on an island off the coast of New England in the summer of 1965, Moonrise Kingdom tells the story of two 12-year-olds who fall in love, make a secret pact, and run away together into the wilderness. As various authorities try to hunt them down, a violent storm is brewing off-shore -- and the peaceful island community is turned upside down in every which way. Bruce Willis plays the local sheriff, Captain Sharp. Edward Norton is a Khaki Scout troop leader, Scout Master Ward. Bill Murray and Frances McDormand portray the young girl's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bishop. The cast also includes Tilda Swinton, Jason Schwartzman, and Bob Balaban; and introduces Jared Gilman and Kara Hayward as Sam and Suzy, the boy and girl.

What a load of dross this movie turned out to be. The whole plot didn’t turn out to be anything noteworthy, much like Wes Anderson’s other boring works. The only two reasons I can fathom that would entice people to watch this film would be a): if they are perverted, or b): they’re extremely boring. Forgettable rubbish at best, and Anderson’s sick fantasy at worst - both examples undoubtably received well by the plastics who run Hollywood.

Witty, cute, funny, stylish - everything you've come to expect from the man. Boasts an impressive cast too, playing roles you won't have seen them in before.

If I could give this 4.5/5 I would as I do not think this is Wes Anderson's best film, but it is worth more than 8/10. The quirkiness in storyline, music and characters, which are all well acted as usual, are all typically Wes Anderson. Each of his films are recognisable as his and yet each is individual and fresh, and that is a rare feat.
