This is an excellent movie with a great script and fantastic acting all around. I know the deep south, especially Georgia, and I can tell you that this was an authentic portrayal of the norm in that type of community. It was so real and well crafted. The late great actor, Heath Ledger really showed his awesome acting chops. Halle Berry and Billy Bob Thornton did not disappoint. This was an awesome script and wonderfully directed. There was not one boring scene in this movie. I love these story driven movies capturing the deep south without exaggeration while remaining entertaining. It was well done, indeed!

In spite of the extremely graphic sex scene, it's amazing the kind of events, that cause some folks to think seriously about their racial bias, in order to over come it.Billy Bob's portrayal of a racist prison guard (from a racist family) was spot on, but what happened to snap him out of it was truly a twist of fate, with a sharp slap upside the head for added measure. Hope I get the chance to see the Director's cut for comparison one day.
