About this movie

Outrageous and controversial, this is the story of legendary movie star Joan Crawford (Faye Dunaway) as she struggles for her career and battles the inner demons of her private life. This torment was manifested in her relationships with her adopted children, Christina (Diana Scarwid) and Christopher (Xander Berkeley). The public Crawford was a strong-willed, glamorous object of admiration, but Mommie Dearest reveals the private Crawford, the woman desperate to be a mother, adopting her children when she was single and trying to survive in a devastating industry that swallows careers thoughtlessly. The rage, the debilitating strain, and the terrifying descent into alcoholism and child abuse are graphically - and unforgettably – depicted in this film, based upon Christina Crawford's best-selling book.

As for Mommie D., there are lots of people who shouldn't really have babies because they don't seem to care to have any responsibilities. They just want to have sex all the time. In this movie, she wanted to adopt kid because of her ego not love. Why people are so selfish is the root of all problems.

Incredible performance from Faye Dunaway. Incredible acting of the child actors and the young teen Christina. I was very deeply sad for the children in this. M. Crawford deeply emotionaly disturbed. Whatever happened to her own passed as child. And behind close doors who knows. The beautiful thing after the death of J.Crawford. At the end of the film. Christina takes action on writes her book on her family and her life. And why Joan was the way she was. C. Crawford. Does get the last word and the emotional healing doing the book and memiour
