$100 million budget and apparently not one military advisor available. The action is downright silly, it feels like a computer game. The CGI leaves much to be desired; the very first scene of the men doing PT on the Enterprise is reminiscent of the stocky figure on the bridge of Titanic … 22 years ago, when that level of CGI was acceptable. Unfortunately, this scene sets the standard for the rest of the film. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT. Not once during the whole 140 minutes does the CGI or action feel credible. Some sterling performances by notable actors, though. Dennis Quaid, Woody Harrelson, Ed Skrein. Which is the only merit this movie has. Even the soundtrack is boring. The battle must have been horrific but watching Roland Emmerich's rendition thereof is sheer torture. If this were meant as a tribute to the people who had fought at Midway, then it is no less than a crying shame. Fortunately, the 1976 version is also available on Google Movies.
