About this movie

MIDWAY is the epic, real-life saga about an undermanned American fleet and the brave Navy leaders and pilots who triumphed, against the odds, over a powerful adversary. With democracy and freedom at stake, these U.S. brothers-in-arms conquered the Imperial Japanese Navy at the Battle of Midway, a most stunning clash by air and sea which marked a heroic feat of naval warfare and pivoted the Allies toward victory in the Pacific Theater during WWII.

As WW2 films go, there are definitely better out there. Unlike Pearl Harbour 2001, this movie decides to stretch its focus from the attack on Pearl to the battle of Midway. While both the battle of midway and the attack on Pearl Harbour have been visited in movies in the past, none have attempted to capture both in a singular movie experience, and to be frank it makes the pacing feel so rushed. You jump from scene to scene, battle to battle, between the Americans and the Japanese, and it's quite jarring, but not quite so bad that you don't know where you are or what is going on. In short, it could have been laid out a little bit better The action was okay. There isn't really much to say about it in this regard, it did what it was meant to do, however, it seemed alot more thought out in the opening battle at pearl harbour, as opposed to Midway. It did manage to grip me and get me looking forward to the rest of the film. I cant help but feel like the focus of the film should have been directed more at the battle of Midway, and it may have benefited from not including the Pearl Harbour attack at all. nothing wring with the Pearl scene itself, just maybe could have been cut to expand on the aftermath. The pilot characters here feel a tad cliche and cocky, which is a real shame as they are based on real people who fought, as seen at the end credits. there is some emotions conveyed in the short timespace we have with the characters, but it doesnt take long to jump straight back into the action. Its a shame to say that this movie feels like a bit of what my dad would call a chewing gum film; stick it on without really have to think or be invested. there were points of enjoyment, some brief points of action, but I would wait for a sale to get this one Not as bad as Pearl Harbour, but it ain't no Tora! Tora! Tora!

Good movie, opposite to other reviews I'm leaving four stars here. I'm not great fan of war movies, must to say pearl harbor was made years ago. That's a different in cinematography to make much better movie. Please don't forget that there is plenty worse movies online about WWII. Don't forget too about Mandy Moore, these days she is better actress than singer...

The aerial combat is good to watch. However there's so much obvious green screen action going on, especially on the ship decks which is typical of a Roland Emmerich movie for some reason. Plus I found the lead pilot character was arrogant and very unlikeable. Overall it's a decent watch. Not one to buy in my opinion.
