About this movie

Dani and Christian are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing. From the visionary mind of Ari Aster comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairytale where a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight.

Maybe this movie is scary for some people, but it's so extremely detached from reality that it's laughable. "Oh yeah, sure, I'll drink whatever you give me communal lady from Sweden that I just met!" None of the characters have the power of critical thinking, otherwise, this wouldn't be a movie. It was lazy in many aspects. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone, or the director's other movie Hereditary for that matter. You wait the whole movie for it to end essentially.

We saw it in theaters when it first came out and what a mistake that was. Movie has a super slow build up that never actually plays off. There's so many scenes where they just stare in silence it's to the point where it's not even scary/uncomfortable, but rather just annoying. You sit and wait for something to happen for 3 hours and it never does. I wasn't allowed to pick a movie in theaters for me and my friends to watch after this mistake. Completely justified. Watch the Wicker Man og, way btr

Horror movie hors d’oeuvres on a nice platter. Might seem original but this is old gags restrung with bits of tribal pagan coven psychotic drugs we've seen before and previously! It wouldn't matter if there was at least one character we could like, but all Aster's players are nauseating and unattractive And dumb!
