About this movie

In this harrowing true-life adventure, young American Billy Hayes (Brad Davis) is arrested in Turkey after he's caught smuggling hashish. Taken to a brutal Turkish jail where the prisoners must fend for themselves, he meets many other inmates, including an American (Randy Quaid), an Englishman (John Hurt), and a Scandinavian (Norbert Weisser). Determined to make an example of him, the court hands down a lengthy sentence, forcing Billy to escape via the "midnight express" in order to save his own life. Brilliant acting, compelling directing and an exhilarating score combine to create a riveting experience that captures audiences with the very first frame. Oliver Stone earned the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for his work on this film. Giorgio Moroder won the Oscar for Best Original Score with title song by Chris Bennett. This is the main lesson of this film. Tbis is by far one of the deepest movies of it's time. It is the true story of a young American guy who tried to sneak hashish on an airplane from Turkey in the 70's, and of the hell of his consequence in a Turkish prison. It has the effect of Psycho, The Shining, and The Exorcist combined all before their time. It was an utterly devsitating drama leaving it's audience speachless. Definately 5 stars.

A boisterous, action-packed prison drama. It appears to be the retro version of The Lego Movie. I like the red border clamshell VHS the best.
