If you came here expecting a nostalgic retread of the old TV series, forget it. This is contemporary neo-noir par excellence. Mann continues his obsessive exploration into digital urban crime by night, which started with Ali and Collateral. The film has been criticised for being too sombre and not making sense, but there is nothing light hearted or logical about the subject matter.. like that tagline for the movie says, No Law, No Order...

It's been a while since Crocket & Tubbs bowed out of the TV series. Regardless of the reality of drug enforcement the TV series brought a touch of glamour coupled with great sound tracks making it a hard act to follow. This film does not disappoint. It brings a darker image of the fight against the drug cartels with great performances from Farrell & Fox and direction from Michael Mann.

Impeccable cinematography, moody lighting, emotive soundtrack, raw characters, flawed heros, sex and violence in this gritty and moving portrayal of the Miami and Caribbean criminal underbelly. On a par with Manhunter. Foxx and Farrel perfect type cast for Tubbs and Crocket. Please make a second. This is cult movie phenomenon at its very best.
