Leaving the simple life in rural Sumatra, Yuda must undergo merantau, the traditional rite of passage in which a young man must leave his family's home to make it on his own. This movie is outstanding. I would have preferred subtitles over dub but I still enjoyed it immensely. The dub detracts from the movie a bit as it doesn't convey emotion well and there are moments when the spoken word feels cheesy because of it. Outside of that, the movie is great, the fight scenes are great, and I really like the cast.

This movie is an awesome introduction to silat and a fantastic debut for star Iko Uwais and director Gareth Evans. This is the movie they made before making the Raid Redemption. The fight scenes are amazing.

An incredibly powerful movie. Brilliantly performed by Uwais. Wish they had the subbed version instead of the dubbed, if you can find it subbed I'd strongly recommend it.
