About this movie

Winner of the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is a uniquely funny, wonderfully charming tale of true friendship about a high school senior named Greg, his best friend and fellow student filmmaker Earl, and Rachel — a terminally ill classmate whom Greg is forced to spend time with at the request of his meddling mother.

This is not what you might think it is - a teenaged tear-jerker, with a hackneyed storyline. It's a fresh and new look at adult issues that face teenagers - life, death, who you really want to be. A lot of fun goes on during this flick, too, while these guys remake old classics with tongue-in-cheek punned renamed film remakes that are screamingly funny - and used as a central theme. They could have made another movie about their filmmaking antics out of this one, too. All characters were likeable - coping as best they could. I liked this, for a lot of reasons - I felt the entertainment value was a '5+'.

I read the book first, which may I say was absolutely hilarious, and for the most part the movie stayed true to the book. They didn't romanticize Greg and Rachel's relationship, so if you are looking for a romance movie this isn't what you're looking for. I will say that some parts were slow and the filming wasn't the best, it was still a great movie. By the end I was in tears, and I'm someone who doesn't cry that much. I feel like it actually portrayed high school life with the sub-cliques and all the really small things. I will probably be watching this on repeat for the next week or so!

I stumbled upon this while looking at some movies and i was going to buy it because i read the book.....DO NOT WATCH THIS! If you in fact did not read the book then i will tell you that this movie Sucks! And they change so much its not even funny its sad that they do not even try to make it close. The book is honestly hilarious and sad at the same time and just a heads up the movie the Fault in are stars is so much better made but if you like crappy movies such as this go right ahead and waste your money.
