This movie was a huge waste of my time and I was so bored while watching it, I had to force myself to get through it. As another reviewer wrote, this movie is nothing but torture porn. It's not scary. It's just gruesome. Even though I don't have an issue with torture in horror movies, there wasn't much depth to the movie and the plot didn't make much sense.. There was very little dialogue and the half way to the end of the movie is basically ongoing torture scenes and not much else. Maybe I am desensitized to torture in horror movies, but just seeing someone getting repeatedly tortured without a clear reason why doesn't do much for me. And the ending was very ambiguous.

This film is disturbing, but not in a good way. It's not a horror or a thriller, it's torture porn. There's very little craft here. Virtually zero suspense, intrigue, or artistic merit, just splattering blood for the first half, and a second half that's filled with the most deranged, senseless violence you'll ever see. Not gore, just heartbreaking, depraved, ultra-violence. I hung on to the end in the hopes that there'd be some sort of resolution or revenge, and because the first half scored a few points and piqued some interest. I only gave it a second star for the performances of the two female leads. Their pain and suffering was pretty believable. This film will cast a shadow on your evening. If you view this on date night, no hanky panky will follow. The only audience for this film would be film student types, or people with major issues.

Just wasted $3 and two hours. I came because I thought it would be the type of scary that would keep me up at night, but it was mostly just unnecessarily gory, which might be thrilling to some people, but it left me extremely unfulfilled in my objective to find something that would scare me in a way only "The Shining" ever really has.
