About this movie

Casey Affleck (Interstellar, Gone Baby Gone) stars as Lee, a man whose spare existence is suddenly ruptured when the death of his brother Joe (Kyle Chandler, Carol, The Wolf of Wall Street) forces him to return to the hometown he abandoned years before. Rocked by contact with his estranged ex-wife (Michelle Williams) and the revelation that Joe has made him guardian of his teenage son (Lucas Hedges), Lee is forced to face up to painful memories and new-found levels of responsibility as he reconnects with his family.

This is my first ever comment on playstore for anything. I feel I have to warn people about this movie. PLEASE do not waste your precious time on this earth by sitting down to watch this awful awful awful movie. It has to be the worst movie i have ever seen. Its long boring and nothing exciting happens all the way through it. And google want u to pay 9.99€ to watch it. Please dont do that. Donate it to charity or just go buy a dominos pizza and look at the t.v for an hour or 2. Doesnt even have to be switched on. It will be more interesting than watching this movie.

It's a tough watch, but you can barely take your eyes of Casey Affleck, (who's performance is simply amazing), and the acting of the teenage son, (sorry, don't know his name), is also impressive. There are a few really tough scenes but there is also some much needed humour in there too. Life is tough. Relationships are tough. Manchester by the Sea is about both.

Over-long, pretentious and self-indulgent. Saved by the excellent performance of Lucas Hedges whose performance is both believable and nuanced.
