This is easily the most entertaining of the three Madagascar films. We rejoin the crew as they decide to find the penguins and reclaim the fixed aeroplane so that they can fly back to the Zoo. They SWIM to Europe somehow and find that the penguins have won quite a bit of money. They escape in a nuclear powered van built by the penguins and run into a crazed French Animal Control officer who REALLY wants Alex's head on her wall. In their desperation, the animals hitch a ride on a circus train and, after seeing the wholly lousy performance of the circus animals, decide to help them regain popularity with fresh new acts. Hilarity ensues! The over-the-top performance of the new circus seems too good to be true until you remember that the penguins were in charge of the technical stuff and it suddenly all seems completely plausible. The film is perfectly paced, has heart, and is a nice ending to the Madagascar franchise. Kids will love the slapstick comedy, bright colours, and adorable animals. Adults will love all of that as well as some jokes that will completely fly over kid's heads: Skipper: "I never thought I'd say this on American soil but the Ruskie is right!" Buy this one!

Undoubtedly, this is the funniest movie in the series. But that doesn't mean it's the best. Sure, Stiller does alright. And Chris Rock is hilarious as the high-voiced zebra Marty. But that's just about all it's got. The penguins are a lot less funny than they could be, and the other characters are just annoying. That is, with the exception of the skilled animal control officer. She is the funny glue that holds this mediocre movie together. Also, Bryan Cranston is genius as the humiliated tiger. 3 stars!
