Good transition from novella to movie. Thoroughly enjoyed the actors- James Mason is always a winner imo- but they've been carefully selected and come up trumps. Its dark and harrowing in some places, others its quite sinister and startling and in others sadness and melancholy.

This is based on the very good book by Vladimir Nabokov. Herbert Humbert is a very troubled soul from an experience as a 12 year old in love. Dolores, (Lolita), is spoilt & likes to be the centre of attention. At first you like Humbert but as the book/film progress you come to dislike, hate & at the very end almost feel sorry for him (not for long). Read between the lines, all is not what it seems. There are some tough bits. I think Kubrick did a good portrayal of the book.
