About this movie

Writer-director Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life. In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters – four young women each determined to live life on their own terms – is both timeless and timely. Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothée Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March.

An incredible movie. Beautiful visuals; the characters and their family and romantic relationships and friendships were so well thought out and portrayed- the relationships are incredibly meaningful and add so much the story; the acting is really, really good. You can just tell how much thought and time has been put into telling this story and achieving an unforgettable experience for the audience. Character interactions and the plot of the movie, very much reflect and support the important changes that are happening in the world at the moment, that give women and young girls equal chances and show them that they are valid just as they are; considering this, I can see why some viewers may dislike the film. It does not align with the inequitable and misogynistic constructs that are present in their fragile mindsets; I hope they can learn from the flourish of Greta Gerwig and her strong female characters. You feel all the emotions that the characters go through in Little Women and end up wanting to live in their world. Greta Gerwig has, once again, created a mesmerising experience of a movie.

The tale of Little Women is one of my favourites, however this version did not do it justice. The story felt disjointed and like it was trying too hard to be something different. Besides a few small moments I felt the characters had no real connection or passion. How the story jumped around made it difficult for the audience to form a connection to any character as it was hard to understand any background. I wanted so much to love this movie but I couldnt. Very disappointed.

Why why why....remake a remake of an original. I get so frustrated when remakes get made for no real reason..it is like when people do sequels to prologue a saga that ends up making no sense..Or prequels for sequels, especially when they do the full circle thing and doesn't make sense or work. Good actors doing their best but really wasted their talent on such a project. Feel for the crew who worked on it.
