About this movie

In five-time BAFTA nominated LION, five-year-old Saroo gets lost on a train travelling away from his home and family. Frightened and bewildered, he ends up thousands of miles away, in chaotic Kolkata. Somehow he survives living on the streets, escaping all sorts of terrors and close calls in the process, before ending up in an orphanage that is itself not exactly a safe haven. Eventually Saroo is adopted by an Australian couple, and finds love and security as he grows up in Hobart. Not wanting to hurt his adoptive parents' feelings, he suppresses his past, his emotional need for reunification, and his hope of ever finding his lost mother and brother. But a chance meeting with some fellow Indians reawakens his buried yearning. With just a small store of memories, and unwavering determination, Saroo embarks on one of the greatest needle-in-a-haystack quests of modern times. 2016 Long Way Home Holdings pty ltd and screen Australia

Great performances. First half is more interesting. Second half is an advert for Google Earth. At the end you're left thinking...by all means find your family and discover your roots. However, falling asleep on that station platform as a kid was the best thing ever to happen to you.

This film was excellent and heartwarming, no explosions, no guns, no America saving the day, just pure, good old drama. The first part of the film reminded me of some of Dickens's works, which made it that more interesting. The second half, while a bit focused on google earth, was just as good. Superb actors and miles better than any of the pathetic overrated action films Hollywood chugs out these days, kids in this generation should watch a good film like this, teaches them that not everyone on this Earth is as fortunate as they are. If you say it's boring, you can buzz off and go and watch the latest trash that Hollywood spoonfeeds you because you can't think for yourselves! This film was moving, charming, tense, emotional and just splendid, a film for the whole family to enjoy on a quiet night.

When I first started to watch this film I thought I had purchased something really strange and not in a language I would understand through out. Still I sat patiently and persevered to watch it. Well let me say that this is not the sort of film I would of normally chosen but I am so glad I did. The story line is incredible and so very well thought out. There was a tear in my eye towards the end as this was one emotional film towards the end. Great acting great story line I commemorate the producers on such a great movie.
