I love space movies and some of my alltime favorites include the alien series, avatar, martian, solaris, passengers. This film for the most part is very well done with brilliant acting. It emulates spirit of other films. One exception it is happening on the ISS which is orbiting earth. So no fantasy in the location and certainly no hypersleep as in most other movies requiring interstellar travel. However sci-fi fantasy horror begins when the single cell organism becomes multi-cellular. Here a certain cynicism from the directors begins and my enjoyment started to wane. First off the organism is given the name of Calvin. A space fan will find that weird at best (other movie hero). Any other person will find the name increasingly inappropriate as astronauts keep calling it Calvin throughout the movie. To picture the cringe, imagine calling a creepy slug Gucci, Prada, Dior. It sucks however you look at it. The cynism continues, WARNING SPOILER as this slug becomes supremely powerful as soon as it is the size of a starfish. They just needed to make it grow bigger then it would be more believable. The ending was sadistic as you would have expected from way it was going. Never again

I had low expectations of this film, had to say I really enjoyed it. It’s more realistic then gravity that’s for sure. Acting was good, actual one of the better sci fi horrors I’ve seen in a long time. Apparently most of the moon minerals that came back to earth has never been opened due to potential contamination. I think that same plot applies here. I don’t get the negative reviews, I thought the acting was decent. There was a good vibe with this film, this is a sci fi horror and portrays a good warning about dealing with the unknown.

Its an OK SciFi, not really scary if your wanting a Horror, wats annoying about it is the stupid things and obvious plot schemes that go on plus obvious mistakes ( like actors complying of the cold whist their faces are bathed in sweat!! )
