About this movie

Based on the best selling novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

Lonely, 12-year-old Oskar is an outsider; bullied, struggling to fit in at school and left alone to fend for himself at home while his mother works nights. One evening he meets the mysterious Eli, a pale young girl, who has moved in next door. Coinciding with her arrival is a series of inexplicable disappearances and murders.

As the two begin to form a special bond, Oskar comes closer to Eli's dark secret and the connections to the gruesome events occurring across town. As he faces his tormentors, he must also face Eli's own plight. She must leave to continue living, or stay and die.

LET THE RIGHT ONE IN weaves a disturbingly atmospheric, yet poetic fairy tale of adolescence and friendship. 2008 Licensed by Bavaria Media GmbH. All Rights Reserved.

Not much of a horror movie this one but a decent enough storyline. Albeit, with a lot of long drawn out shots. I was worried for the moment that the relationship with Eli and Oskar was shy of pushing a boundry so the movie end up on Rolf Harris's watchlist. I guess it would've been in an evidence lock up than on Google play if that was the case.

I love the physicality of the movie, my favourite for vampire effects. The story was also good, although a part of me will always doubt Eli's feelings and intentions towards Oska, given what happened to her old caretaker. It may all have been an act to manipulate him, but that point is ambiguous at best. A daring, film I liked it.

Different twist to a vampire movie. Worth watching for $0.99
