About this movie

In acclaimed director Edgar Wright's psychological thriller, Eloise (Thomasin McKenzie, Jojo Rabbit, Old), an aspiring fashion designer, is mysteriously able to enter the 1960s, where she encounters a dazzling wannabe singer, Sandie (Anya Taylor-Joy, Emma, The Queen's Gambit). But the glamour is not all it appears to be, and the dreams of the past start to crack and splinter into something far darker.

Last Night In Soho is the best horror film of 2021 and one of the very best films from 2021. I was simply stunned by its charm and personal story and horrors that come about it, the ghosts in it that so haunt. The lighting, filmaking, dancing, and Mackenzie's acting is simply gripping. Taylor Joy and others play well here too. A gorgeous horror achievement of a film and makes me look even more foward to Baby Driver 2 cause the same director did the first Baby Driver. His film style is great.

Eloise is not the only one accused of a split personality. As a teenage slasher/zombie movie, this is a solid 5-star. For a mature audience, it merits a lone star -- well, two because I didn't turn it off. The first third of the movie is boring, the second third banal, and the final third so melodramatic that when at the climax the villain exclaims, "I'll get you (my pretty)!", I burst out laughing.

Bought this movie under the impression it was taking place in SoHo NY, not London. Was a bit jarring when the accents were whipped out. However, still a fun and entertaining movie. It's pretty easy to guess how it will end, but that's okay.
