This movie sucks and decides to not be a horror movie but peta's pet showing it's okay to let monsters live even though it's killed three people that we know of! Over all this movie is not worth your time I had to be forced to stay awake! The movie isn't even that scary if you wanted to see a monster movie more comedic than this I suggest something like airplane were you except the writing to be bad! The main character is aweful the way she just is annoyingly whining! I suggest you watch jaws og

Lake Placid is a actually a village near a lake in New York. Not a lake that's in Aroostook County, Maine. There are more facts to be confirm; Saltwater crocodiles don't grow to 30 feet long, they don't swim from Asia to North America, shooting tranquilizers at crocs never happen and never calms them down because their hide contains thick armour plated scutes or osteoderms, and croc hatchlings don't eat bread. Yes, Saltwater crocs do swim in saltwater (oceans). There have been some unanswered questions in this movie like "why is the croc in Maine?," "how did the croc get so big?," and "what are they going to do to this giant croc in the end?." Some of the special effects are quite impressive, but the CGI effects are below-average even though the movie had a mildly entertaining climax. The behavior of the croc effects seems quite authentic, because crocs swim slowly and quietly, they can launch prey in the air, they do a death roll to tear a body part of their prey, they can swing and show their teeth with their jaws opening up wide to show aggression, they can sometimes charge on land quite fast, and as they get older, they move a litter slower. I have to give full praise to the lively and effective score by John Ottman. Now let's get to the rest: There is very little entertainment here, mostly because I am not a fan of Jaws rip-offs or any creature feature that's inaccurate and stereotypical. The story is a basic creature feature story with characters that are fleshed out and have careers; it's a knock-off of "Jaws", but at least it has a better written ending but again; what will happen to croc? Answer: Unknown. The antics and the dialogue said from the actors reveals their characterizations; Kelly Scott (Bridget Fonda) is a paleontologist with depth involving his family, but for the most part, she is stupidly sensitive, queer, and rude. That makes her a stupid and annoying protagonist. Sheriff Hank (Brendan Gleeson) is kind of smart because he knows some true facts about animals, but there are times where he uses the word "sarcastic" at the end of a sentence to describe the people's personalities (The characters are not sarcastic). Another thing: I find The sheriff quite forgettable because there isn't anything much to him. Hector Cyr (Oliver Platt) is a herpetologist with very few accuracies that has been said, but he has done some crazy things and most often says some dumb things too. Mrs. Delores Bickerman (Betty White) is nothing but a dumb lying woman who keeps that giant croc, feeds bread croc hatchlings (which is wrong), and she does not say anything about how the croc got to Maine. Jack Wells (Bill Pullman) is a very forgettable character, in fact, I find most of the characters kind of forgettable because it's either the pacing that moves a little too quick or the talking from the actors that escalated a little too quick. But mostly I find the characters in generally stupid and ridiculous. In conclusion: This Jaws knock-off is deliberately cheesy and ridiculously unrealistic. Recommendation: Not recommended/Skip it.

Hilarious. Yeah, sure. all the scares of a monster movie. But good actors having a lot of fun playing off each other and all the quirky character and big toothy predator tropes.
