It was a bit like watching Anne of Green Gables on speed. The original made me feel as though I were back in time, living life at a slower pace. In this remake the story line is blurred, sometimes altered to the point of losing continuity. Not sure how much my granddaughters would get from it. I will stick with the original series (even though it's VHS) and the books for my Anne of Green Gables fix. Like the actors...the acting, not so much.

Even though I haven't seen this one. I won't watch it bc of the fact is that they should have left the original anne of green gables alone. In the original anne the actor Jonathan Crombie that played Gilbert Blythe died in real life. He was one of my all time favorite actors that I miss a lot now. And honestly I really don't think the kid that plays him in this movie will do as good of a job like Jonathan did. Jonathan set a high standard when he played Gil. Girls loved him growing up.

I thought it was ok. Not the best adaptation but not the worst I've seen. Yeah, it's not exactly like the book, but it still shows the spirit of it. Anne doesn't have the same temper as she does in the book, but the actress portrayed her wonderfully!! Mathew was ok, but Marilla was excellent. Gilbert didn't look how I imagined him, and he didn't have the charm, charisma, and sweetness of book Gilbert, but it really could have been so much worse. I haven't seen the adaptation with Megan Follows, so I can't gripe about how that one is so much better, but I think if you don't expect anything to be better than that adaptation you should try to open your mind a little. This is going to get people to read or reread the books, and, to me, I think it shows the books in an ok manner.
