Paris, 1967. Jean-Luc Godard, the most renowned filmmaker of his generation, is shooting La Chinoise with the woman he loves, Anne Wiazemsky, who is 20 years his junior. Happy, in love, magnetic...they marry. However, the film's reception unleashes a profound self-examination in Jean-Luc. The events of May 1968 will amplify this experience and the crisis that shakes Jean-Luc will change him profoundly: from star director to Maoist art-outsider, as misunderstood as he is impossible to understand.
