About this movie

Based on The New York Times best-selling novel, Killing Lincoln is the suspenseful, eye-opening story of the events surrounding the assassination of U.S. President Abraham Lincoln. While some aspects of the plot to slay Lincoln and cripple the newly forming union are widely known, much more of the history unfolds in this insightful drama. As actor John Wilkes Booth becomes increasingly obsessed with removing Lincoln from office, a secret cabal forms, and ultimately empowers Booth to carry out an event that will change America forever. Narrated by Oscar® Winner Tom Hanks (Actor: Forrest Gump, 1994; Philadelphia, 1993) and produced by Tony Scott and Ridley Scott, this historical masterpiece stars Billy Campbell in a spectacular turn as President Lincoln.

This is a disappointment. Also John Wilkes Booth was no great actor. It bothers me that movies keep losing that fact. John Wilkes was the brother and son of the greatest actors of his day: Edwin Wilkes, his father, was respected. BUT Edwin Wilkes, Jr. was the greatest actor of his time! Now one can't leave that out in the story of John Wilkes. Tom Hanks did a terrific job.

This is a great film, and a great example of how a film about such a significant event in our contry's history should be done. Narrated by Tom Hanks, starring Billy Campbell as Abraham Lincoln, and Jesse Johnson as John Wilkes Booth. It is based on Bill O'Reilly's book of the same name. Great cast, directing, and attention to detail. The film makers did a lot of research to ensure historical accuracy. Presented in a docudrama format, It's a very educational film.
