About this movie

Steven Spielberg's phenomenally successful sci-fi adventure thriller is graced by state-of-the-art special effects from the team of Stan Winston, Phil Tippett and Michael Lantieri from George Lucas's Industrial Light & Magic. The film follows two dinosaur experts -- Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Dr. Ellie Sattler Laura Dern) -- as they are invited by eccentric millionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough) to preview his new amusement park on an island off Costa Rica. By cloning DNA harvested from pre-historic insects, Hammond has been able to create living dinosaurs for his new Jurassic Park, an immense animal preserve housing real brachiosaurs, dilophosaurs, triceratops, velociraptors, and a Tyrannosaur Rex. Accompanied by cynical scientist Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum), who is obsessed with chaos theory, and Hammond's two grandchildren (Ariana Richards and Joseph Mazzello), they are sent on a tour through Hammond's new resort in computer controlled touring cars. But as a tropical storm hits the island, knocking out the power supply, and an unscrupulous employee (Wayne Knight) sabotages the system so that he can smuggle dinosaur embryos out of the park, the dinosaurs start to rage out of control. Grant then has to bring Hammond's grandchildren back to safety as the group is pursued by the gigantic man-eating beasts.

Obviously fantastic! Excellent rendering of the book, despite several changes, and all the dinosaurs looked fabulous. All the characters but 1, were perfectly chosen. Not sure why, but Dr Sattler didn't fit for me. I don't know whether it was the actress or the characters make up (not cosmetics), but something was off. Unsurprisingly I have all of the Jurassic Park and World movies - in 3D when available. Such an early use of CGI. Incredible seeing how, as usual, Steven Spielberg managed to do what no film had done before with such brilliant effects. The man's a genius. He's always ahead of the rest with films like E.T and Jaws.

The original, BEST and really, the only one worth watching. Maybe #2 too, for mindless action. Book reviewers don't get filmmaking: Spielberg & co did outstanding work, + the characters are more likable than in the book where Hammond deserves a worse fate than he gets, and Dr M somehow survives a broken leg, a coma, being left in a building that raptors are breaching *and a nuclear strike on the island to star in book 2, which bears no resemblance to the film 🤔. Watch, read, skip the sequels

Jurassic Park is a classic. Not only do the prehistoric dinosaurs steal the show, the heartwarming characters connect you with the story. Jurassic Park performs on all levels. From the truely awe inspiring moments when the group see the Brachiosaurus, to the terrifying T-Rex breakout, and the intense scene with the Raptors in the kitchen this is one of the greatest blockbuster movies since Jaws. The natural actors play their parts exquisetly and the morals of capitolism are tested.
