About this movie

FBI informant William O'Neal infiltrates the Illinois Black Panther Party and is tasked with keeping tabs on their charismatic leader, Chairman Fred Hampton. A career thief, O'Neal revels in the danger of manipulating both his comrades and his handler, Special Agent Roy Mitchell. Hampton's political prowess grows just as he's falling in love with fellow revolutionary Deborah Johnson. Meanwhile, a battle wages for O'Neal's soul. Will he align with the forces of good? Or subdue Hampton and The Panthers by any means, as FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover commands?

Growing up in the 1980's and 1990's and thoroughly immersed in the body of work flowing from the politically and socially critical hip hop and rap genre I was aware of the historical importance of Black Panther Party Movement. However there was very little in the way of cinematic material for one to search out, and if there was any on hand it was hard to seek out in the disconnected days pre - HTTP//: However, this account is brilliantly written, cast, acted and produced, in my opinion it embodies a huge and long overdue leap forward in documenting the BPP and those who were involved. Some will find it unsettling, some will feel rage and cry at the twists and turns in the narrative, that is surely the sign of a movie worth watching. I am sure Judas and The Black Messiah will rightfully join the pantheon alongside Malcom X, Cry Freedom and Black K Klansman.
