About this movie

The tale of Jodorowsky and his Dune is a fascinating trip through creativity and imagination, a story about the relentless pursuit of a dream, and the necessity of art. In pre-production for over two years, the film was to star Jodorowsky's own 12-year-old son Brontis alongside Orson Welles, Mick Jagger, David Carradine and even Salvador Dali, set to a musical score by Pink Floyd and art-design by some of the most provocative talents of the era, including H.R. Giger and Jean 'Moebius' Giraud.

it was a good way to spend a winter Saturday. I think it will be enjoyed most by people who love avant-garde theatre, or love dune. or both. But not that many others, to be honest. Jodorowski's version of DUNE was not Frank Herbert's. The movie that did end up being made was more faithful to the novel. His was a more psychedelic acid trip, the sequel to his Holy Mountain, than anything Herbert ever dreamed up. The ending was VERY different. And I can see why the studios took a pass on it. It made an amazing comic book. The costumes and characters were incredible. But a live action move called "DUNE" was not its place.

I would have loved to watch the movie he saw in his head. It seems like it was one of the most avant garde, psychedelic sci fi movies ever. If it were made back then,, I don't see how it would have been possible to pull off his vision. It is cool to get a glimpse into his creative and passionate mind.

I very entertaining insight into the creative process. The film explores what one person can do with a vision and enough ambition and how trying to bring life to that vision can come into conflict with the money making machine. Any fan of science fiction films of the last 40 years, or of creative films in general, needs to see this.
