Jimi: All is By My Side

I think the film negatively portrays Jimi Hendrix as a woman beater. Kathy Etchingham, former girlfriend of Jimi Hendrix has slammed the biographical film for its inaccurate portrayal of both her and her relationship with him. The Hendrix family didn't want any of Jimi's original music portrayed within the film and it was blocked last summer and has been slammed very critically by Rotten Tomatoes and other sites. As a Guitarist myself, I don't think Andre 3000 was the best actor to play the part for the film. It didn't finish with anything about Hendrix's death, nor did it emphasise much about Jimi's politics and his struggles as a young child. I sympathise with the difficulties in making a film like this, however it didn't portray the passion that Jimi has for his music, where is the burning of his guitar? Where is the influence of the Who? This film shows a look alike of a person mimicking basic blues licks in the style of Hendrix with no passion what so ever. Waste of £8, If you want to see better guitar playing than whats shown in this film go to a blues bar and watch the pros.

As a massive Jimi Hendrix fan I was disappointed by the films lack of depth and misrepresentation. There was nothing about Jimi as a child or a success and, although its obvious that they tried to get some of his passion and struggle across, the film appears to show him to have been a hotheaded stoner.

I found it a really interesting and Good film now in my top 10 favourite films and it's everyone's cup of tea as it has big rock legends from that time and all around god film
