All the comments that say this is awful are wrong. Admittedly, yes, it's not as good as the original. However, if you are able to enjoy this version for what it is, you will like it. I saw both this tour and the 2006 tour, so I feel I know what I'm on about. Obviously this cast isn't as good as the original, but they perform gamely. I thought Marti Pellow was great, bar a few shaky notes during 'The Eve of the War.' Of course he isn't as good as Hayward, but he is still good in his own right. Will Stapleton does a fine job as The Voice of Humanity, and it was interesting to see a more rock singer taking on 'Thunderchild.' Ricky Wilson is wonderful as the Artilleryman, wonderfully hamming up his performance to sound as crazy as possible. Kerry Ellis does well as Beth, and Jason Donovan plays her husband. I'm going to be honest here, Jason is my favourite actor the play the Parson, full stop. Not even the original performer Phil Lynott beats Jason in my opinion. Also, Liam Neeson is no Sir Richard Burton, but still gives a great performance. The visuals and music are stunning as well. Overall, this is a brilliant release, and I highly recommend it.

It was always going to be impossible to better the original, so if you enjoy it for what it is - a well constructed, modern refresh then you'll probably enjoy it as much as I did. It's a fantastic show, with improved visuals, expanded live acting and of course the re-worked soundtrack. The only slight let down for me was Marti Pellow's performance. Not sure if he was having an off evening at the time this was recorded, but his voice really did not sit well for me and his performance of Forever Autumn was a disappointment. Otherwise, great stuff!

I went to see this amazing show before jeff wayne committed entertainment suicide when the original members from the making of the album took place were in the show.. To have marti pellow sing the classic "Forever Autumn" with his almost non existent voice compared to the mighty Justin Hayward is unforgivable. .we put our hands over our ears for the duration - in fact had Wayne publicly stated before tickets went on sale who the performers were we wouldn't have booked tickets. .
