About this movie

For 19-year-old Jay (Maika Monroe), the fall should be about school, boys and weekends at the lake. An excellent inversion of traditional horror tropes. This follows in the footsteps of Goddard and Whedon's "Cabin In The Woods and Hill" and Franco's "The End". Along the way it challenges traditional uses of gender in the genre. This is a smart flick that ratchets up tension till its closing credits. Don't expect jump scares and traditional boogie men, this is not that. Well worth the watch.

... for the horror genre, which is not generally renowned for excellence. You get used to the low-key cinematography and amateurish soundtrack but the characters stick to the predictable actions required to make such movies work. You'll certainly see a lot worse in the horror movie arena.

A horror-thriller classic, to be sure. Eerie, gripping and atmospheric. Initially I thought "It Follows" was about a cursed logical argument, where a demon follows you if the logic of your proposition is invalid...i.e. It does Not Follow
