About this movie

The horror thriller “IT”, directed by Andrés Muschietti (“Mama”), is based on the hugely popular Stephen King novel of the same name, which has been terrifying readers for decades. When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids is faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.

Bill skarsgård brought a whole new element to the pennywise character, well scripted, directed, shame about the cuts, but hopefully there'll be a directors cut soon. I enjoyed the TV mini series but this really stepped it up. Also loved the colour grading used..

In all honesty, this is an amazing film with so much backstory. Personally I think this is better than the mini series from 1990. Not only does this explore the characters and there development but it also surprised me because I never thought a film about a murderous shape shifting creature could become such a great coming of age movie. I also prefer how fast moving this was compared to the 1990 version. The bullys were extremely exaggerated though and at times the scares weren't scary.

This movie is not at all what i expected. It is a coming of age type movie with a cast of tween age kids (they are supposed to be 13). It has been made with a very 90s Spielberg-esque feel and therefore is a good enough movie if you just take it as a drama, but as a horror movie it is a major disappointment! They obviously tried to make it more adult by having the kids swear more than any other horror movie I've ever seen, but that doesn't change how non-scary it is.
