About this movie

With sensational, nonstop martial arts excitement supplied by the acclaimed choreographer of THE MATRIX and CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON, IRON MONKEY is the spirited tale of a mysterious and mythical Chinese legend. In a desperate and unjust land, where government corruption rules the day, only one man -- known as the Iron Monkey -- has the courage to challenge the system and fight back. Under the shadow of night, in the silence before dawn, he fights to give hope to the poor and oppressed. Although no one knows his name or where he comes from, his heroism makes him a living legend to the people ... and a wanted man to the powers that be! Presented by Quentin Tarantino -- don't miss the exhilarating action adventure that critics everywhere have called one of the greatest martial arts films of all time!

Original 1993 version written by Tsui Hark was incredible, and fleshed-out the world and stories of Wong Fei-Hung. Tarantino's version hacked everything up, and is dumbed-down for American audiences, stripping away everything that made it a pinnacle of Hong Kong Kung-fu theater. If anything, use this as a reminder to skip the U.S. version, and seek out the original release.

If you enjoy martial arts movies that features some superhuman/supernatural marital arts abilities such as physically impossible jumps, gliding through the air and inhumanly forceful blows carried out with such grace and nonchalance that the fighters seem to stand as demigods among the commoners, then this movie is for you. Also, some of the dialog is quite humorous and there's a few zingers in there. "You may be ugly, but I doubt you're a virgin." Ooh, burned!

I purchased this movie on DVD at least 20 years ago. The movie had ENGLISH dubbed as an option on its DVD release. Why have I bought a movie from Google which was released on DVD with ENGLISH available that I will never watch. Somehow your version of this movie has no ENGLISH version. A movie that was released with a ENGLISH version. Never buying another foreign film from Google again. Even if I know it was released with English available.
