First things first those rating this 2 stars and saying the racism, hate speech, black guy having an afro is forced blah. you really and I mean really need to take some history classes you look absolutely stupid right now. When this movie took place time frame wise the actions were actually overwhelmingly prevalent as a norm in society. you seem to forget that even in the 1950's blacks and whites were not allowed to share the same restroom's or water fountains this persisted until the mid to late 1960's. An afro was a very common hairstyle for black men because of how there hair grows. The Geary act made in 1892 forced all Chinese persons to carry an extra form of identification because they were not accepted as members of society. it wasn't until 1965 that the Chinese could actually become citizens in America. So before you trying rating a movie low and then spewing false facts and made up foolishness do your homework. This movie as it was written time wise was nearly 100% accurate there are a few things that were not 100% as it was but considering what they had to work with was very close.

Pro-Beijing stance - Would have be 4/5 stars if not for the over the top racist dialog. Seeing that made me read up on the film. It came as no surprise to find out Hong Kong protesters boycotted 'Ip Man 4' for Donnie Yen and Producer's Pro-Beijing stance. Apart from that it did seem a little like milking the cow some more. The memory of the first three films was good quality martial arts films with some decent story and some well done scenes. This film seemed to live more for the pointless fighting then a balance of both. Ended up buying the first three but cannot justify adding this one to my library even as a discounted price.

I've loved all of the Ip Man movies. But this is definitely the worst. Everything just seemed so forced. The acting was terrible and the characters felt more like cliches than anything else. How many times does Bruce need to thumb his nose. And what was up with the brothers fro. The next time I watch a movie where a black actor thinks its acceptable to wear a ridiculous looking afro wig I'm giving the movie an automatic two stars. Black folk should know better. The wigs look foolish and seem to do more to poke fun at that hair style than to actually pay recognition to its significance. And what's up with the girl who wanted to be a cheerleader for a group of people who generally despise her vs practicing Tai Chi. Lastly, why would the Chinese marine keep pushing Chinese kung fu after he watched every Chinese kung fu master in china town get crushed. The whole theme of kung fu for everyone was not well played throughout the movie. Although, I liked the idea that marital artist have an obligation to fight injustice everywhere. The fight scenes were good though.
