I finished the book yesterday and watched the movie today (which I hardly watch anymore), but I feel that this movie is an excellent representation of the book. Yes, it didn't go through all the details of the book, but the whole story behind the horrors of residential schools and the effect on cultures far and wide is captivated in the 100 minutes. My hats off the the author and to the producers for bringing a voice to this history that is easily swept under the carpet. I am sure that some will get what was needed to be told.

They skipped alot of key parts from the book. But overall it was OK. Could have been better and portrayed what he actually went through in a better way

I watched this movie as a part of my Intro to Aboriginal Peoples of Canada. It shows Saul's journey to healing and his love of hockey. It is an accurate representation of residential schools and I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more of Canada's history.
