This film had a great deal of promise. All until good ol' Will Smith uttered the overly patriotic and self-ingesting line 'welcome to Earth'. I couldn't cringe any harder and to be honest my interest wained a great deal after this script oversight. It is entertaining, it's more of a 'leave your brain at the doorstep' kind of title.

Highly entertaining and epic pre-9/11 remake of War Of The Worlds with huge spaceships, hostile aliens, loads of destruction, and dogfights that we'd love to see in Star Wars! But it's also like watching Space Invaders on the big screen as Earth, led by the US military as always, mount a gallant defense as city after city is taken out. As in the HG Wells classic, we win of course, but not in the way you'd expect and the way we do is corny to say the least! Nonetheless, a fun blockbuster ride. GAME OVER!

One of, if not the, worst blockbusters of all time. Even at the time this films effects were crap and that's all these films are about, so it's the one thing you'd think it'd have going for it, even 2012 managed that.
