About this movie

Nominated for seven Oscars in 1993, this biopic features the dramatic prowess of Daniel Day-Lewis as the Irishman Gerry Conlon, who was wrongfully sentenced to life in prison for an IRA terrorist attack that killed four people. As if a forced confession weren't enough injustice, the police work to implicate Conlon's father (Pete Postlethwaite) in the same crime. Emma Thompson plays the lawyer who worked for years to uncover the truth.

Well done. I am honestly just learning about the IRA organization and the history pertaining to them. Riveting film with a triumphant ending. I have much to learn about Ireland/England/IRA. The injustice demonstrated in this flick brought tears to my eyes. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! Stellar performance by the lead actor, Daniel Day-Lewis. Total thumbs up 😀

An outstanding & very emotionally charged movie.... Daniel Day Lewis was nothing less then stellar in his performance as Gerard Conlan... it exposes a very dark time during the 70's of how the war in Northern Ireland raged on & how it spilled over onto British soil... this movie shows how people's lives whether innocent or guilty were forever changed by this dirty war...

MUST SEE FROM A BLACK IRISH LASS. CAPTIVATING. Based on a TRUE STORY which matched Gerry Conlon's book well. Excellent shocking story. Excellent acting and cast. Great soundtrack. Fascinating.
