About this movie

Inside the most corrupt prison in Eastern Europe, the warden pits prisoners against each other in fights to the death. The newest contender is Kyle LeBlanc (Jean-Claude Van Damme, “Bloodsport”), serving a life sentence for killing his wife's murderer. His savage rage may be what saves his life in this gritty prison film by legendary Hong Kong action director Ringo Lam (“City on Fire”).

...probably the best Jean Claude Van Damme film he's ever made. Which is saying something. I say that because it's not a movie with a clear good guy; bad guy; race against time plot to foil a plan to destroy the world; it's not an action adventure from start to finish. It's a complicated portrait of a lost soul being found again in the unlikeliest place on Earth. Prison. God would say; as long as you choose to remain true to yourself and not become lost; you'll never find yourself in Hell.

Terrific film. However one that has not been very well scripted for Mr. Van Damme. That is because the subplots of the movie picked up steam after the fight scenes and never slowed down. But Jean Claude was A-1, as usual.
