Another "Van Helsing: i have a mortgage to pay bollocks." The supposed plot makes no sense. Love Bill Nighy, but he and Harvey Dent are wasted in this CGI shambles. You can tout "Underworld," but without a leather-bedecked Kate Beckinsdale, it's a moot point. And there is no Scott Speedman as "I am a normal person swept up in this madness" to identify with. The creature-protagonist just seems to pout and scowl a lot. The creature, and possibly Eckhart, just needs to get laid.

This is not one of those movies that I would rate as one I would have to watch over and over. That being said I appreciated the myth reinvented and the special effects were pretty good most of the time. Overall for someone familiar with the lore this is at least entertaining. As for the younger crowd, they should probably read a book anyway so they might as well get some idea of the original story. Otherwise it may not make much sense.

Not even Jai Courtney's fine self could save this abomination. The storyline was cluttered and nonsensical, while the acting was so far below subpar ... although, that dialogue never really gave anybody a chance. Don't waste your time or money.
