About this movie

It's the song that brings ultimate hope to so many…often in the midst of life's most challenging moments. Amazingly, the song was written by MercyMe lead singer Bart Millard. In reality, those lyrics took a lifetime to craft. Although he found faith at a young age, life wasn't easy for Bart. He leaned into an active imagination and his love of music as escapes from a troubled home life. As he grew older, Bart turned to football in hopes of somehow connecting with his abusive father. But a career-ending injury-combined with the vision of a teacher who saw unlimited potential-set Bart on a musical pathway. Chasing a dream with running from broken relationships with his father and Shannon, his childhood sweetheart, Bart hits the road in an old, decrepit tour bus with his new band MercyMe-named for his grandmother's favorite expression. With the guidance of a grizzled music-industry insider, the band begins a journey none of them could ever have imagined. A gripping reminder of the power of forgiveness, I Can Only Imagine, beautifully illustrates that no one is ever too far from God's love-or from an eternal home in Heaven.

This was a hard movie to watch, but boy did I need to see this. Having a similar relationship with my own dad reminded more tangibly two life nuggets: 1) God forgave me therefore I am COMMANDED to forgive because HE gives me the strength to. (Col 3:13, Esp 4:31-32). 2) I must have hope in God changing the hearts of even the hardest people (John 12:39-40, Romans 9:18). If you are on the fence about watching this movie, don't be. The worst it could do is cause you to run out of tissues.

What a powerful movie and I honestly guess I must have some pain buried, because I can't remember a time a movie had me so tearfully touched in such a good way. I hope y'all enjoy and share the love of Yeshua... Respectful regards, Richard Orozco JR To GOD Be The Glory 🕊️

Very Poignant yet powerfully moving account of Mercy Me's rise to Stardom. How Bart found the inspiration to persevere through out his life while deeply scarred at childhood by his Father's need to appear unconquerable. This movie gives hope, and inspires others to overcome and create beauty where there once was pain. This movie is as Beautiful as the Song "I can only Imagine".
