About this movie

Helmed by Rob Zombie, this gore fest follows two young couples on their quest to find the truth about a mythical character known only as "Dr. Satan." Set in rural Texas in the 1970s, the group gets more than they bargained for when they find themselves stranded in an all-too-realistic house of horrors.

This movie is sad, upsetting, depressing, it really messed with my head, I guess I rated it 3 stars because some would consider that a good thing for a horror movie, but I mean I am a fan of the hostel movies, Texas chainsaw movies, but this movie just takes it to a very real, very sick place, I wouldn't watch this if you have mental disorders like me, not a fun experience watching this movie, truly disturbing the way it's filmed, the story, the characters and what happens to them, the acting, the realism.

Its a film that tries way to hard to be a 70s horror flick and comes off as a poorly acted, awful story told movie, and probably one of the movies I ever seen. I'm perfectly fine with gross scenes in movies but this just makes me feel like I have to take a shower after I'm done watching it. It's sleazy and it thinks way too highly of itself. This isn't worth the film it was shot on. One of the worst films I've ever seen.

This is a brilliant homage to 70's horror and grit. Absolutely amazing first entry by Rob Zombie. It isn't for everyone, and some people won't get it. As a lover of 70's horror this is everything a modern filmmaker could do to bring back the surreal and gritty world of horror from that time. Like Quentin Tarantino and his throwbacks, this film does that for horror. Really amazing feat from a first time director.
