I really love this movie. It's not the best thing A24 has every pumped out, from a critical standpoint, but all the performances are excellent. Timothee Chalamet is wonderful, as always. Maika Monroe will give you a reason to fall in love with her, if you haven't already (watch 'It Follows' if you want to see an absolutely stellar performance from her). Alex Roe does excellent work as Timothee Chalamet's partner in crime and Thomas Jane, though he has limited on-screen time, nails his performance as well and has a pretty important role. The movie truly feels as though it was made in the 90's, which is when it is set. The addition of a narrator who isn't really part of the plot was a really neat decision and it's not heavily narrated either. The movie does a great job of making sure the story primarily focuses on Danny, McKayla, and Hunter with little snippets of narration to help "set the scene" and provide backstories. PLEASE WATCH THIS.

After the rather long narrative in the first minutes of the movie, I found myself unsure if I'd care much for it. However long before the credits rolled I had come to realize that this is a movie I love. Romance, heart, seriousness, realism, good ending, well told. The music...was great, and I've never really been into those older songs. I don't even know for sure who sung most of them. They went great with the movie though. Lovable characters. The ending was supreme. Really confirmed the fifth star for me.

This movie was pretty good but the ending was slightly confusing and there's one little part that doesn't seem to make any sense at all but it doesn't ruin the movie for me. I may watch it again soon but I got to watch it free with Prime otherwise I would not have watched.
