About this movie

This film takes a satirical look at the ambivalent relationship between Hollywood power brokers and African-American performers. The filmmaker also stars as Bobby Taylor, a struggling actor looking for his big break in the entertainment industry. While working a day job flipping burgers, Bobby heads out to insulting casting calls where white casting agents pass judgement on whether he seems "black enough." When Bobby actually does earn a big role, he is forced to choose between accepting work that opens doors, but ultimately demeans him and returning to obscurity with his principles intact.

I wish more people knew about this movie. Such a great take on amazing lesson. "There's work at the post office." If only more people felt this way things could be different.

I remember watching this movie as a young girl many years ago, and it's still hilarious today. They don't make movies like these anymore. I can still laugh @ classic scenes and lines from the movie as if it's my 1st time watching them😀 I LOVE...LOVE...LOVE THIS FILM😁

This is a classic film, that is not only funny, but ridicules black stereotypes; albeit humorously... Rock, don't stop, do the Jheri curl!
