So, before you buy or rent this be aware that there is some atrocious blackface 😱, a mamie character, and some dialog that's very of its time (no wonder I've never seen this on TV during the holidays). The story itself is probably a little weird for modern audiences considering one guy steals the heart of another guy's fiance and the guy who loses his fiance responses with shrug. Anyhow there are some beautiful and very impressive song/dance numbers if you can look past what I mentioned above.

Those complaining about black faces, etc., I like to see what the next generation has to say about this generations choices in movies, music, etc. Like X rated type movies are any better? Oh Game of Thrones, that is so much better to watch. Like the rapping lyrics of rape and sexual exploits are better? Seriously, it is just a movie. Take it for what it's worth. At least I don't have to take the kids out of the room every other scene due to nudity, vulgarity or violence. Oh let's talk violence! Watching someone being decapitated. Go Dexter! Wow what an uplifting event that is. Why can't everyone just enjoy and critique the movie itself not make the critique a statement of negativity for racism. Those were the times. Anyone have a 90 year old grandparent hanging around. Go ask them how their lives were at that time.

Enjoyed White Christmas and enjoyed this movie as well. Since blackface isn't intrinsically wrong and the depictions in this film aren't done in a derogatory way and because there are no historically or currently offensive mannerisms in this film, I find nothing wrong with it and find it to be enjoyable all around.
