About this movie

Legendary French director Claire Denis (Beau Travail) returns with her first English language film. Monte (Robert Pattinson) and his baby daughter are the last survivors of a damned and dangerous mission to deep space. The crew, death-row inmates, led by a doctor (Juliette Binoche) with sinister motives, has vanished. As the mystery of what happened onboard the ship is unraveled, father and daughter must rely on each other to survive as they hurtle toward the oblivion of a black hole.

I normally don't write reviews for films but I feel compelled to for this one, it was just so bad. This film had been highly recommended by a critic whose work I respect but in this case the praise wasn't warranted. It is a complete mess and disaster. It's as though the writers and director have no idea about even the basics of science fiction, of how romantic love works or how human beings interact in difficult circumstances. So many ridiculous premises it's hard to know where to start.

don't believe anything you read about this film, we had read some interesting reviews and saw it at the cinema. excruciating....like a terrible student film from the 80's, we discussed it after to see if we were being reactionary and there was something that could be teased out of it. nope. some shocking violence with little character building to either justify it or make us care, sexual imagery that had little context, lots of hair being tossed around....I'm not sure I could even recommend it as a bad film as I really did not understand what it was about I had to give it 1 star to submit the review

Don't watch it if you are looking for a space si-fi movie. This is not a movie for general audience. It is not a good film, with mostly exposition dialogue, illogical human reaction, and no character development.
