The incredible untold true story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) & Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. This stunning achievement galvanized the world and inspired generations to dream big.

I'm torn about this film. I enjoyed it, thought it was well paced and that the female characters were well portrayed and incredibly endearing. However, there's a major problem with it. It's not true. The Kevin Costner character who white knights his way through the film did not exist. The shared race toilets scene never happened. Katherine Johnson did not view the launch from the director's office. But, the film does illustrate the importance of black women at NASA, along with the segregation that was happening less than 60 years ago. It's just the fake feelgood history that's a problem. Sadly I can't help feeling that this is a film about black people by white people for white people.

I have seen this movie many times, it's a tragedy how african-american people were treated back then, even now. we all have a brain and we all bleed red, and so it shouldn't be about anything else apart from what you can do for humanity. Raise each other up. The film and portrayal although shocking was beautifully done. Brilliant film to watch, the music score is excellent too.

Not only was it entertaining, but funny in places, which was unexpected. Women in history are often forgotten or ignored and black women exceptionally so, so it was lovely to see these ladies stories being told on the big screen. A beautiful film that actually makes you feel good.
