Hereditary

The more you think about this movie, the more you allow it to consume you, the scarier it gets. If you're a fan of jump scares, this movie is not for you. It's a slow burn psychological horror that takes a deep dive into mental illness, family dynamics and the intersection between the two. The second half of the movie picks up a lot and in my opinion is day-ruining scary. (In a good way)

Tense. Slow building. Thought-provoking. An overwhelming sense of dread. Terror. Shock. All words to describe Hereditary. I am a horror fan and this one did not disappoint. I hate the film's that rely on jump scares, And while they may have tossed one in, this film is a slow burning creep, culminating in a shocking end sequence of pure terror and helplessness. Perfect 'thriller'

No movie has ever made me what I would call scared but if you're looking for a movie that will leave you thoroughly creeped out and unsettled this does the trick nicely. It's a slow burn and mid-way through the movie you stay to winner if this is really supposed to be horror at all but it find its footing again and leaves you in disbelief and dread.
