About this movie

Having had two huge box-office hits with ‘Main Hoon Na’ and ‘Om Shanti Om’ – the successful pairing of Farah Khan and Red Chillies Entertainment is back with a new film – Happy New Year. Happy New Year is built around 5 disparate characters who are fighting a most unlikely battle.. a battle of international proportions.. but it’s a battle being fought on a dance floor. Where the rest of the world’s competitors are battling for national pride and glory on the world stage, our 5 are dancing for a different cause.. revenge, retribution and closure. This is Team India, a group that has no confidence in its own dancing abilities, but is competing for a cause very important to them. How this bunch of losers transform themselves into a team that performs really well and how they win over the hearts of the people in the city and across the world, forms the rest of the story. Whatever else you want to say about Farah Khan, she has a style, and she's very good at it. Happy New Year is entertaining as hell. Sure, it's a mess. The formula with "masala" movies like this seems to be throw a bunch of ingredients into a blender, turn it on, then open the top so everything gets all over the walls and makes a huge mess. But it's a colorful mess. It's a funny mess. The cast is great, with SRK hamming it up to an enormous degree. Has he ever been this corny? I guess not, yet he still effortless carries the picture as a Danny Ocean-type assembling a bumbling team together to pull off a mega-heist. But it's all window dressing for Deepika Padukone to train them for a dancing competition while hilariously attempting to speak English and (sweetly) failing most of the time. Oh, and there's "India Pride!" messages mixed in there too, in a very heavy dose (while in Dubai, of all places?), and several self-referential in-jokes for fans of SRK and Farah Khan. Yet somehow, all of this happens to work. Yeah, you've got to leave your brain at the door, but by the time the 3-hours is over, you'll be smiling. If you're a fan of this kind of thing, of course.

Can't believe such great actors are wasting time and ruining their name in making stupid movies... Didn't expect this from at least srk... I can understand its a funny movie but at least have some sense don't go full retard... A funny movie should be like PK... Like Amir Khan on how he works on such meaningful movies...
