About this movie

There are heroes--there are superheroes--and then there's Hancock. With great power comes great responsibility--everyone knows that--everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock's well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough--as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn't the kind of man who cares what other people think--until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey, and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock's greatest challenge yet--and a task that may prove impossible as Ray's wife, Mary, insists that he's a lost cause.

The Adventures of Superhobo was very entertaining, but it began to fall apart as soon as it tried (and failed) to be something more than a comedy. To improve your viewing experience, consider the bank robbery to be the finale and switch it off right there, all the protagonists's meaningful character growth is done by that point, and there's not but a huge shift in tone with a meandering non-story afterwards.

Wouldn't give it a movie if the year, but as far as superhero movies go, this was refreshing --reminded Mr of kickass. Movie of this genre, today are generally better paced and still strike similar emotional chords, but this movie was great for its time. I almost want a sequel but know they'd probably water it down and ruin my initial impressions. Still wanna see Hancock do more on his universe.

While its abrupt left turn into mythology helps more than hurts this super anti-hero flick, the messiness of its delivery and the subsequent failure to capture much affection for any of the characters renders this muddled flick nothing to write home about.
