About this movie

Academy Award® nominee Will Smith (Best Actor, The Pursuit of Happyness, 2006) stars in this action-packed comedy as Hancock, a sarcastic, hard-living and misunderstood superhero who has fallen out of favor with the public. When Hancock grudgingly agrees to an extreme makeover from idealistic publicist Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman, Juno), his life and reputation rise from the ashes and all seems right again--until he meets a woman (2003 Academy Award® winner Charlize Theron, Best Actress, Monster) with similar powers to his and the key to his secret past. © 2008 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. and GH Three LLC. The daft PR geezer is just annoying to begin with, but all of a sudden you kind of care about him. The twist is as brilliant as Smith's cringeworthy lack of simple social skills. The back story is fab, but the whole film is spoiled by the OTT marital squabble. The hospital scene starts to really get there, but they missed a story opportunity. The kid should have pushed him out the window. Instead as usual they went for the bloody stupid all American grit teeth and try harder to win tired old contrived bollox, and our hero wins. I should write the endings.

Scfi. MATT DAMON Stranded on Mars as a botanist learning to stave off starving by growing potatoes from his own waste to live over a year ( GROSS) before the hope of getting rescued hampered by mishaps and working out how to fix them. A very clever story of survival against all odds keeping his will to live and trying not to give up like many people in that same position. Watched it a few times, different from his usual roles. A good ending I thought, different from what I imagined it would be.
