About this movie

Frances (Chloë Grace Moretz), a sweet, naïve young woman trying to make it on her own in New York City, doesn't think twice about returning the handbag she finds on the subway to its rightful owner. That owner is Greta (Isabelle Huppert), an eccentric French piano teacher with a love for classical music and an aching loneliness. Having recently lost her mother, Frances quickly grows closer to widowed Greta. The two become fast friends — but Greta's maternal charms begin to dissolve and grow increasingly disturbing as Frances discovers that nothing in Greta's life is what it seems in this suspense thriller directed by Academy Award® winner, Neil Jordan.

I think people are being to harsh on this movie. It was well planned and nicely timed. I agree that its more of a suspense then a thriller but it was good. Its not a gory kill or be killed thriller. Its light hearted for those who can't stomach a lot of violence. Being a survivor of a stalker and knowing how terrifying it is, not being heard by the authority who are supposed to protect you, and fearing for your life - this movie really hit me because it was so relatable. A person doesn't have to be brutal to be dangerous, believe me. [semi-spoiler] I hated the end where Greta was pounding on the box and it shows that she can and might escape and I say good riddance. I wish Frances went down stairs to the basement to see if the dog and the little girl was still alive and I wish the movie ended showing us that Frances went to the police and moved on with her life. This movie might not be the scare fest that yall were looking for but if you get passed that, it was really good. Its on the league of movies like Secret Obsession, The Woman In Black (bad,) Stephanie, I Am Mother, In The Tall Grass, Brain On Fire, Fractured (bad,) Sixth Sense, Gerald's Game (bad,) Berlin Syndrome (bad,) You Get Me (bad,) Only Mine, You, Cam (bad,) Fatal Affair (bad,) Before I Wake, Horns, Polaroid, Deadly Scholars, Heartthrob, Hidden In Plain Sight, Saving Zoe, The Roommate, Little Evil, Sinister 2, Natural Selection, Eli, Amanda Knox (bad,) The Blackcoats Daughter, A.M.I., Lavender, Gone, Carrie (original & Chloe G. M. remake,) Let Me In (Chloe G. M.,) Red Riding Hood, Chloe (bad,) etc. All of these movies are slow paced and very mild in the scare department with extremely little to no killing/bloodshed/gore/violence. The ones I marked "bad" are not particularly awful, they just didn't jive with me and I either didn't watch it completely, became bored, or just never saw myself rewatching it/referring it to others to watch. I highly suggest the others though and most of the tittles I mentioned are on Netflix atm. If you liked Greta or light hearted suspense, I think you'll love some of these tittles if you havent watch them already. Some may be more scary then others but most of those are worth a watch. Brain On Fire is another Chloe Grace Moretz movie which is very good and its based on a true story about an unknown illness. It's in this list because it's scary to not know whats wrong with you and everyone thinking that you've just gone off the wagon.

As exciting to watch as paint drying. Boring, slow moving, anti-climatic, not believable., not a movie for guys....more of a chick flick for women who are scared of their own shadow and incapable of standing up to anyone. If the story line is meant to have a moral lesson its lost. Its not an empowerment for women, nor is it sexual in any way whatsoever. i do not see anything redeemable about this movie at all. Its just boring.

This is one of the most boring movies I have ever watched. I felt I had to drag myself through the film. It was not thrilling in any way. Most of the movie consisted of an older woman staring at a younger woman through a window. The dialogue dragged on for no reason. The film was extremely predictable. There was really nothing great about this film. I feel like I've wasted an hour and a half of my life. Please do not waste your money. It is not worth it.
