About this movie

Sandra Bullock and George Clooney star in this heart-pounding thriller written, set in the infinite and unforgiving realm of deep space. Bullock plays a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with Clooney as a veteran astronaut in command of his last flight before retiring. But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving the two completely alone -- tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth...and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

I fell asleep while watching this in the cinema! I've got to admit, I was really looking forward to this film and I was excited that George Clooney and Sandra Bullock was paired together for this. But about 30 minute's into it, yawn! And then, I'm off to dream land. The reason for this is simple, I was waiting for the character's personalities to develop and some sort of script to come into place...but it didn't happen. I loved the realist picture, it was amazing and that's why I gave it 2 stars but it was not 5, due to the lack of script and lack of personality given to the main actor's. I may watch it again, as I may be too harsh but for now, 2/5

From the very beginning this engenders disbelief. Clooney's messing around with his suit thrusters that immediately change his spin or direction to where he wants to go irrespective of the direction of that thrust is pathetic. The guy jumping off the lander to be caught by his tether is pathetic. Clooney catching bullock at high speed after she flashed a little torch, when her suit light were brighter (and flashing by virtue of her spinning end over end)!

This is an amazing story of the most accident prone astronaut ever! The effects in this movie are excellent and I love the actors and the directors past works but there really isn't much to this movie apart from it's amazing effects. Be aware that this movie is very very quiet apart from the odd bit of dialogue and the score, so if you're going to watch this movie at home while munching popcorn or snacks, all you'll hear is yourselves. Have fun...crunch crunch crunch!
